Senior Product Designer at UpCounsel

Senior Product Designer

Company

UpCounsel is on a mission to make the legal experience remarkable for businesses, and we’re looking for leaders to drive the mission with strong technology and product. We work with thousands of entrepreneurs and thriving companies to deliver high quality, convenient and cost effective legal services from the world’s largest legal community. When businesses can access great legal services, they make better decisions and can grow their business with confidence. UpCounsel’s product facilitates an end-to-end experience for both businesses and lawyers, which places us firmly at the middle of this untouched, yet critical industry.

Role

This role requires a designer who is capable of being involved from beginning to end of the product definition and delivery cycle.  This means you must not only be able to understand a problem, propose and iterate on a solution, but also help make it become reality and ensure delivery of value to users (i.e there will be no ‘handing off’ to engineering team).

You will lead the definition and scaling of our end-to-end iterative UX process from user research, to the creation of personas and journey maps, as well as building of low fidelity and high fidelity prototypes of new experiences.

At UpCounsel, you will:

  • Use your intuition along with both qualitative and quantitative user research to explore and present innovative yet pragmatic design solutions
  • Advocate for great user experience across our website and products
  • Partner with product team to have a results-oriented focus that continuously optimizes for increased user value and delight
  • Quickly prototype solutions to visual and interaction problems and ship high fidelity designs of new features

Desired skills and experience:

  • 5+ years of in-house design experience with 3+ years of UX design focus at a B2B company.
  • Proficiency with various prototyping tools (such as Sketch, InVision), as well as knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • A deep understanding of the end to end iterative UX process (personas, scenarios, wireframing, and high fidelity visuals)
  • Human-centric approach to designing products
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Be open to receiving feedback and constructive criticism
  • Experience collaborating with diverse team in a rapid growth environment

Bonus:

  • Ability to write and edit HTML, CSS and Javascript
  • Experience designing for a two-sided marketplace
  • BA/BS in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Anthropology, Sociology, Computer Science, related fields, or equivalent practical experience
