Ray A. Lord is a native of Savannah, Georgia, having grown up in Savannah, Charleston, and Columbia, South Carolina. He is a 1988 Graduate of the University of South Carolina, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. Ray graduated number one in his class at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in 1989 receiving the J.P. Strom Award and worked in active law-enforcement for seven years as a Richland County Deputy Sheriff and Forensic Investigator. He received his J.D. degree from Mercer University in 1998, where he was a member of the Mercer Law Review. Ray has been a sole practitioner since 2001 and maintains his office in the Town of Irmo. He concentrates his practice in the areas of bankruptcy, probate, estate planning, and asset protection planning for business owners and professionals. Ray also practices in the area of family law, personal injury, and medical malpractice. Ray is also a part-time Deputy Coroner for the Richland County Coroner’s Office, and a founding member of the Richland County Coroner’s Foundation charity. He is a member of the South Carolina and Georgia Bar Associations, American Bar Association, and the SC Bankruptcy Law Association. Ray lives in Chapin and is married and has five children and is also active and a Former Deacon in the Baptist Church.
