He is on the Board of Directors for the Oakland Aviation Museum and is the Western-Pacific Regional Vice President of the International Air & Transportation Safety Bar Association (formally the National Transportation Safety Board Bar Association).
Admitted to the California Bar in 2006, John Van Geffen has represented Plaintiffs and Defendants in both state and federal courts. John was admitted to the United States District Court, Central District of California in September 2007 and the Federal Court of Claims in November 2011. His experience in torts, employment law and business litigation & transactions gives John a unique angle in each task he takes on.
Graduating from Santa Clara School of Law where he concentrated in International Law and Global policy, John was a technical editor for the Santa Clara Computer & High Tech Law Journal and enjoyed competing in various international competitions, including the Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court and the ABA Negotiation Competition.
When not practicing law, John is playing guitar, riding anything shaped like a board, and enjoying the art of cooking. Having circumnavigated the globe, John has had the distinct pleasure of scuba diving in the Seychelles Islands, salsa dancing in Cuba and swimming with Great White Sharks in South Africa.
