Jeffrey Fucci

As law clerk to the Assignment Judge of the 500,000 resident Passaic Vicinage, I wrote bench memoranda, orders and accompanying legal opinions for the Honorable Ernest M. Caposela. I also managed all condemnation matters for Judge Caposela, and mediated disputes in the landlord/tenant and small claims courts.

As a student clinician in the Land Use Clinic of Vermont Law School, I worked closely with agency legal staff on a grant proposal to the Federal Emergency Management Agency regarding restoration of a fish hatchery destroyed by Tropical Storm Irene. I also worked on legislative affairs, and drafted rules and regulations for the Agency including drone regulations applicable to game hunters.

While in the Criminal Law Clinic of Vermont Law School, I worked closely with the Office of the Appellate Defender to draft an appeal brief for an indigent client who had been convicted of possession of a prohibited weapon, brass knuckles, and faced severe penalties. Due to the quality of my brief, I was given the opportunity to argue for my client before the Vermont Supreme Court.

During this valuable summer position, I assisted with legal research and drafted memoranda on issues including NJDEP agency discretion for air pollution complaints, the legal status of watercraft after Hurricane Sandy, and the validity of consent agreements for dam repairs; I also developed privilege logs after reviewing attorney-client materials, work-product, and deliberative materials.
