"I first met Don Moody back in 2005 when a boutique IP law firm he was working at shared office space with my firm. Over time, we discovered a number of synergies between us that allowed our two firms to work collaboratively servicing various high-tech and entertainment clients, including Internet telephony provider Skype; peer-to-peer file sharing sites such as Kazaa and BitTorrent; the blog creation and hosting platform SixApart, among others. I have always found Don to be extremely knowledgeable in a variety of legal areas, most notably intellectual property and Internet Law, and his work product has always been top-notch. My firm and I have worked closely together with Don ever since serving startups and growth-stage companies across Southern California, and have every intention of continuing this relationship for the foreseeable future. -- Greg Akselrud, Partner Stubbs, Alderton & Markiles, LLP"
"I have known Don Moody for many years. I was the CFO for ICANN (the Internet's coordinating body for domain names and IP Address numbers) and then the CFO for Donuts (the largest registry operator with nearly 250 active top level domain registries) which raised $100 million as a startup and recently had a private equity exit transaction with valuation of nearly a billion dollars. In addition to our shared involvement with the ICANN community, Don served as one of Donuts' lead attorneys for various legal matters. In this role, he led the efforts to resolve many highly complex disputes while working within a challenging, highly technical and deadline-focused regulatory environment. While I cannot share many of the inner details of Don's work due to confidentiality constraints, I can definitely say that we were very glad Don was on our side. My colleagues and I considered his work product to be excellent and a signifcant asset to the company. After I left Donuts, I led a group of investors that were attempting to buy a highly valuable internet asset. The valuations of this class of asset are difficult to ascertain, and the transaction structure was particularly complicated, with asking prices reaching well into 8-figures. For these reasons, my team and I retained Don to handle some difficult negotiations requiring finesse and technical expertise. He delivered on his promises with excellence, and produced his work product efficiently. We continue to engage Don on a number of smaller engagements as well. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Don well over the years, and continue to be pleasantly surprised at the breadth and depth of his expertise and acumen.
