"I hired her for an initial job and it was great. She took a little long to respond, however, the work her team produced was good. Seeing this, I inquired about her team updating an existing document or creating a new one. She proposed making revisions, to which I agreed. However, she produced a brand new document. Okay - she knows best, no big deal. I read the document and asked her to correct a few items to accurately represent our business, and asked her to confirm that the work was done for FL (I hired her team for FL-specific documents, i.e. a Florida addendum, so that was the scope we were working under as our business is out of another state for which she does not have a license). She told me the document she produced was a base document and advised I have attorneys produce state-specific documents. Naturally, since I only hired her to produce/revise documents for Florida, I asked for confirmation said document would work for Florida. She replied to my concerns and said it was indeed good for FL, attaching a revised document. That revised document, however, materially changed from the original, and in fact stated that I could NOT actually accept payment for key services due to legal restrictions on my business type in Florida (as we'd need to go through licensing). This was never flagged in our communications before or after she produced the documents and obviously would have made me tell her NOT to produce the documents. Beyond that, she didn't ask me beforehand if we indeed had the requisite license - so she made zero attempts to gain useful information to produce the documents. That also would have flagged to me that there was potentially an issue! Thinking everything was fine with the original document I did not review the FL document (which, again, I thought was in essence the same document I reviewed) until the next business day, after having already confirmed job completion and submitted payment. I followed up with her multiple times immediately and have not heard back. I've reached out to UpCounsel and they have said that (to my knowledge, as of writing this review) they are also awaiting a response. I'm beyond frustrated. In the same breath she took my money and created a document telling me (but not actually flagging this issue) that I cannot earn money without undergoing additional FL-specific licensing from one part of our business. I'm giving her a few (more) days to respond before filing a complaint, since I believe both sides should have the opportunity to tell their side of the story. However, thus far she hasn't denied any of what I've said or defended her actions. My assumption is that there was miscommunication between her and her team and they can resolve it. Right now - other than the initial document I asked her to produce and the one I asked her to revise (which, again, I am content with) - I have 2 worthless documents when we agreed she would revise one. And I'm out even more than she quoted for the additional work, because despite her not answering my questions or asking the follow up questions she needed to in order to produce accurate documents, she charged me an additional fee for "Answer[ing] questions". Great. Thank you for the $600+ virtual paperweight. Last note, since this is long: If we'd stopped the engagement with the initial work, I'd only detract stars for response time and meeting deadlines. To Rebecca: If there's anything in here where you think I've misstated what happened, please correct me. I'd like to understand your side of the story and I eagerly await any response."
