He is an experienced, entrepreneurially-minded transactional attorney devoted to helping entrepreneurs, professionals and companies of all sizes across a wide variety of industries. Roby began his career as an associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate Meagher & Flom where he worked on several high profile finance and M&A transactions. After Skadden, Roby joined the Corporate Department of Latham & Watkins in Los Angeles where he focused primarily on M&A, private equity and venture capital transactions, equity financings and general corporate representation for domestic and international private and public companies engaged in a broad range of industries, including media, entertainment, emerging technology, real estate, communications and manufacturing. After five years at Latham, Roby joined the Media and Entetainment Transactions Group at Katten Muchin Rosenman in Century City where he represented and advised media companies, television networks, distribution and production companies, financial institutions and investment funds in a variety of transactions, including the development, production, financing, acquisition and exploitation of intellectual property and entertainment assets in a variety of media, including television, home video, the internet and other digital media. He most recently took a brief break from law to co-found a Los Angeles based social-commerce company - an experience he credits with making him the practical entrepreneurial-minded lawyer he is today. After getting his BA from the University of Pennsylvania and his JD from NYU Law School, Roby, always a Los Angelino at heart, returned to LA where he was born and raised and attended Harvard-Westlake High School.
