Head of Marketing

We are looking for a talented, data-driven Head of Marketing that can lead an equally talented team to rapidly scale our marketplace and transform a massive market. This role will require a passion for performance marketing with the ability to craft and communicate UpCounsel's story to the market. We need a great manager, with a track record of empowering talented performers, and able to flex between company strategy and hands on execution. You will be reporting directly to the CEO for this critical role. You will optimize existing channels and open up others for our SMB and Enterprise product lines, while maintaining good unit economics. Most of all, we want to see an entrepreneur at heart.

At UpCounsel, you will:

  • Put the pedal to metal with our growth channels while maintaining good unit economics
  • Manage all performance marketing across mobile and web: paid and organic acquisition, conversion optimization, email and engagement
  • Evolve the UpCounsel story and message to our customers
  • Lead a strong team of marketing specialists
  • Recommend and drive actionable optimizations on existing channels
  • Lead experiments to open up new channels
  • Build and execute A/B and multivariate tests across all channels
  • Own and drive customer remarketing through email automation and content
  • Work closely with our Growth, Data and Product teams to optimize customer conversion and experiences
  • Report directly to the CEO
  • Be a team player in a small, flat-structured, highly collaborative environment.

As an ideal candidate:

  • 7+ years digital marketing experience
  • Have knowledge of customer acquisition through SEO, SEM, email, content, remarketing, referrals, and social media
  • Strong understanding of B2B acquisition of both SMBs and Mid-Market customers
  • Track record for managing marketing budget across multiple channels to over perform on acquisition and engagement goals
  • Ability to plan strategically and execute methodically
  • Strong management, listening, and teaching skills
  • Strong organizational skills to track progress, analyze data.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective at implementing and measuring channel success (cohort analysis, LTV)
  • Expertise in Excel, SQL, SPSS and other analytical tools
  • Have knowledge of SQL, Optimizely, Google Analytics, Kiss/Mix Panel/ Amplitude, Marketo, Outreach (or the like)
  • Bonus: Degree in quantitative discipline (CS, Engineering, Math, Economics, Statistics)
  • Bonus: Marketplaces experience
