Retention Marketing Manager

UpCounsel is seeking a Retention Marketing Manager, with a deep expertise in optimizing the life cycle experience for customers to maximize their usage of B2B or B2C products. You will work directly with our VP of Growth to manage and develop our customer retention strategy and tactics. You will drive all aspects of planning, executing, optimizing, testing and reporting on our retention and lifecycle marketing efforts. The ideal candidate can leverage marketing, product, and growth tactics to improve renewal and engagement metrics.  Candidates should be comfortable with A/B testing and have experience executing campaigns across various channels (e.g. web, email) to drive user retention, engagement, and monetization.


At UpCounsel you will:

  • Determine the marketing and growth projects to retain and engage customers post-onboarding
  • Own the customer segmentation and customer lifecycle strategy, including UpCounsel’s referral program
  • Create compelling engagement strategies that resonate with our customers.
  • Design, manage and optimize lifecycle and engagement marketing campaigns.
  • Understand and track retention and engagement metrics.
  • Execute A/B tests across email and web platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with product, marketing, growth, and analytics teams
  • Build out customer lifecycle email nurture through Marketo to improve customer value retention business acquisition for our SMB customers.
  • Drive a culture of rapid testing and learn to discover new and innovative ways to scale revenue and improve ROI
  • Direct the technical aspects of our retention marketing tools including Marketo


An ideal candidate:

  • Has a min of 5 years of relevant work experience in CRM, Lifecycle Marketing, Retention Marketing, or other data-driven marketing messaging experience
  • Has a min of 3 years of relevant product marketing experience
  • Has a passion for marketing that delivers large and measurable results for the business
  • Has experience with CRM automation and marketing automation platforms
  • Has experience with amazing content creation and its delivery to right customer
  • Has experience working cross-functionally with marketing and product teams
  • Has experience with HTML and SQL preferred
  • Demonstrates a very strong analytical skillset
  • Demonstrates success in optimization, A/B testing, and experimentation
  • Demonstrated ability to create innovative marketing programs to engage and retain customers
  • Demonstrates the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and to manage multiple, competing priorities
  • Contribute to other team projects and initiatives, remaining flexible and willing to contribute to larger company, data and growth initiatives
  • Be a team player in a small, flat-structured, highly collaborative environment.
