Quality Assurance Engineer (QA)

As our first QA Engineer at UpCounsel, you will immediately play an integral role in defining our QA strategy between the product and engineering teams. You’ll be a key player in planning, building and scaling our quality processes around our cloud-based marketplace. By joining our fast growing team as an early employee, you'll have an opportunity to create big impact and shape the future direction of our services in delivering delightful user experiences.

At UpCounsel, you will:

  • Take full ownership of quality processes, driving quality awareness and QA best practices across the organization.
  • Develop a deep expertise in our product.
  • Improve the overall quality of our products and elevate a quality mindset across the organization.
  • Understand end-to-end testing requirements and maintain test plan for functionality and system testing.
  • Provide timely feedback on feature functionality, validity and product defects.
  • Document test cases on a feature level, covering the happy path as well as edge cases.
  • Build, launch, maintain and grow an automated regression test suite using open source frameworks.
  • Develop Test Plans for vital in-app flows and features
  • Improve the speed and reliability of integration tests
  • Build and maintain automated tests running against our products using open source frameworks.
  • Triage bugs submitted from users and other teammates, verifying issues and gathering additional details.
  • Be a team player in a small, flat, highly collaborative environment, working closely with both product and engineering teams

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 4+ years of QA engineering or automation engineering experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree in CS, engineering or equivalent programming coursework.
  • Experience with Ruby or Python, as well as web frameworks like Ruby on Rails.
  • Preferred experience with test frameworks like Capybara for Ruby on Rails.
  • Experience with automating tests using browser drivers like Selenium, WebKit or RackTest.
  • Impeccable written and verbal communication skills.
  • Passion for learning, and tackling new and exciting challenges.
  • A desire to have a lot of ownership and will often take initiative.
